While sublimation offers many benefits, it does have some limitations. The most significant is that it only works on light-coloured, polyester-based materials. Unlike other printing methods, sublimation cannot be used on 100% cotton fabrics or dark garments, as the ink relies on a polyester surface to bond effectively. Additionally, while the quality of the prints is excellent, the process is not suitable for textured surfaces, as the design needs a smooth area to transfer correctly. Finally, while sublimation allows for stunning full-colour prints, it is not always cost-effective for very large bulk orders, where traditional screen printing might be a better option. However, for small runs and personalised products, sublimation remains an excellent choice.
