Screen Printing

ALL PRINTED BY OUR FAIR HAND TRADITIONAL SCREEN PRINTING IS THE BEST TECHNIQUE FOR VIBRANT, CRISP COLOURS, AND IT GENERALLY ACHIEVES BETTER QUALITY AND FINER DETAIL THAN OTHER PROCESSES.

Screen printing is the process of passing ink through a mesh onto a substrate, in our case fabric. The mesh is coated in a photo sensitive emulsion that allows the exposure of graphics through a UV light and blacked out acetate. This creates the stencil that will allow the ink to pass through the mesh using a squeegee once contact is made with the substrate ( fabric ). Each colour in your design will require a different screen ( stencil ) to be made up, once they are made up we will use the registration marks to ensure all the colours are lined up and begin our printing process.

Whilst we do offer some package deals, which can be requested via the contact button. These package deals are only a glimpse into the large variety of base garments that we can provide and which can be found on our SHOP. Using the shop you will be able to create a quote package of your own and once requested we can give you a tailored cost based on the garments. If you are looking for something in particular then please contact us and we will see what we can do.

Our minimum price break starts at 10 prints per design, but for a better price we would suggest starting at 25 with the next price breaks being 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2000 and 2000+. To be able to give an accurate price, we will always ask to see your artwork first to ensure that we can give an accurate and competitive price.

There are a number of inks available to be able to create the print finish that you are looking for, listed below are a couple of the more popular inks with a few specialist inks listed below that.

PLASTISOL INK

Plastisol ink is the standard that we use for the majority of print jobs due to its versatility across multiple fabrics. It leaves a deposit of ink on top of the garment and has a glossy finish. Plastisol ink has a larger library of colours especially with the option of Pantone matching, this ables us to help keep specific print jobs within brand guidelines.

DISCHARGE INK

The use of Discharge ink is the process of evaporating the original dye of the cotton fabric and replacing it with the pigment of the ink being used. This leaves a very soft hand feel with the added feel of being part of the garment due to the dying process. There are limitations to this process and is highly recommended to be used on 100% dark cotton garments any lower cotton percentages will not give a vibrant finish. Also the colour library is limited to standard colours.

WATERBASED INK

Similar to Discharge ink, it will leave a soft hand finish however due to the low opacity of the inks they are best used on white / light coloured garments. Also has a limited colour pallete available.
